President Donald Trump delivered an optimistic message to America’s farmers during a visit to Wisconsin on Friday, arguing that current economic pressures tied to international tensions may soon begin to ease.
Speaking before a crowd of agricultural producers during a roundtable discussion in Chippewa Falls, Trump outlined what he believes is a coming turnaround in energy and fertilizer costs, while also expressing confidence that developments in the Middle East will soon move toward a resolution.
The event, which drew several high-profile Republican leaders, gave Trump an opportunity to discuss both foreign policy and domestic economic issues directly impacting rural communities across the country.
For many farmers, rising input costs have become one of the biggest challenges over the past several months. Fertilizer expenses, fuel prices, and energy-related costs have placed additional strain on agricultural operations already facing tight margins.
