Tim Walz Pardons Armed Illegal Migrant?!

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is once again finding himself at the center of a fierce immigration controversy after stepping in to help a foreign national convicted in a violent crime avoid deportation.

The Democrat governor moved quickly this week to secure a pardon for Jai Vang, a Laotian immigrant who was convicted nearly three decades ago for his role in an armed robbery. The move came after federal immigration authorities detained Vang and prepared to remove him from the United States.

The decision has reignited debate over Walz’s approach to immigration enforcement, particularly as he continues to clash with federal agencies carrying out deportation operations across Minnesota.

According to public records, Vang was convicted in Hennepin County in 1994 for aiding and abetting an armed robbery. He was 18 years old at the time of the offense and served his prison sentence before returning to civilian life.

For years afterward, Vang remained in Minnesota, building a life and operating a local painting company. His situation changed earlier this year when Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested him during Operation Metro Surge, a federal effort targeting immigration violations in the Minneapolis area.
