House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) just dropped a bombshell on Tuesday—accusing Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) of deliberately dragging out the government shutdown to please the radical Left ahead of what he called a “hate America rally.”
Schumer’s Shutdown Strategy Exposed
According to Scalise, Schumer is intentionally stalling progress on a Republican-backed plan to reopen the government, hoping to time the standoff with an upcoming “No Kings Day” protest set for October 18. These rallies, promoted by left-wing groups and boosted by media allies, are already being branded as “historic” events by outlets like MSNBC.
Scalise didn’t mince words. “Where the contrast of Chuck Schumer throwing a temper tantrum here at home, just to appease the most radical elements of his base so that on the 18th when they have the hate America rally that everybody knows is coming, and that everybody knows Chuck Schumer needs to deliver a shutdown government to them to appease them,” Scalise declared.
Republicans say the Senate’s refusal to move a “clean” short-term funding bill proves Schumer is prioritizing politics over people. The House-passed measure would keep the government open through late November, but requires at least seven Democrat votes to clear the Senate’s 60-vote threshold.
