CBS News just found itself in the middle of a meltdown—and this time, it’s not because of a bad ratings week.

The network’s new editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss, just made one simple request that shattered the fragile comfort zone inside America’s most progressive newsroom.
The Simple Question That Lit the Fuse
Bari Weiss, the journalist who walked away from The New York Times in 2020 after accusing her colleagues of “constant bullying,” has officially taken over CBS News. Her arrival comes after Paramount CEO David Ellison spent $150 million acquiring her media outlet, The Free Press.
Weiss’s reputation for rejecting groupthink and championing free speech instantly sent a jolt through the newsroom. And on her first week, she made one request that every competent employee should have no issue answering.
She sent a memo asking staff to describe their daily work and list what they’re most proud of.
“I want to understand how you spend your working hours — and, ideally, what you’ve made (or are making) that you’re most proud of,” Weiss wrote.
