President Trump set social media ablaze early Saturday after posting what he described as a photo of Venezuelan strongman Nicolas Maduro aboard a United States Navy vessel following a dramatic military operation.
The image, shared on Trump’s Truth Social account, was presented as evidence of a successful U.S. action against the longtime socialist ruler of Venezuela. According to Trump, Maduro and his wife had been captured and removed from the country after a coordinated strike involving American forces.
“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country,” Trump announced on Truth Social.
The post immediately triggered shockwaves online, with supporters praising the move as long overdue accountability for a regime accused for years of corruption, drug trafficking, and brutal repression of its own people.
Trump followed up by stressing that the mission was not carried out by the military alone.
