“This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement,” President Trump announced early Saturday morning.

Maduro and his inner circle have long been targets of U.S. prosecutors. The Venezuelan leader, his wife Cilia Flores, and several associates were previously indicted on charges including narco terrorism conspiracy, money laundering, and other serious federal crimes tied to drug cartels operating throughout Latin America.

Late Friday night into Saturday morning, dramatic videos began circulating on X showing explosions, air activity, and what appeared to be military strikes inside Venezuela. While details remained limited, the footage fueled speculation that a major operation was underway.

President Trump later shared clips of the alleged mission himself, further amplifying the claims that U.S. forces had executed a precision strike aimed directly at the Maduro regime.

Fox News reported that the elite U.S. Army Delta Force was responsible for the capture of Maduro and his wife. The report suggested the operation had been meticulously planned over several months.

According to Fox News, Delta Force captured Maduro and his wife.

Fox News reporter Brooke Singman relayed additional details from a source familiar with the operation, indicating that U.S. intelligence had been deeply embedded long before the final move was made.

“The source tells me that the CIA had a small team clandestinely on the ground beginning in August that was able to provide ‘extraordinary insight’ into Maduro’s pattern of life ‘that made grabbing him seamless,’” Singman said.

The USS Iwo Jima, a massive amphibious assault ship capable of hosting both aircraft and special operations units, was identified by Trump as the location where Maduro was taken after his alleged capture. The ship’s presence added to the seriousness of the claims, signaling what would amount to one of the most significant actions taken against a foreign leader in decades.

For years, critics of the Maduro regime have accused U.S. administrations of failing to act decisively while Venezuelans suffered under economic collapse, food shortages, and political repression. Trump’s supporters argue that this operation, if confirmed, represents a sharp break from what they describe as weak foreign policy under previous leadership.

As of Saturday morning, official confirmation beyond Trump’s statements and media reports had not yet been released by the Pentagon or the Department of Justice. Still, the former president’s announcement dominated headlines and reignited debate over America’s role in confronting hostile regimes.

Whether the images and claims represent a completed operation or an unfolding situation, one thing is certain. President Trump’s post has sent Washington, foreign capitals, and the media into a frenzy, with many now waiting to see what comes next.
