Barack Obama’s presidency is once again under a harsh spotlight — and this time, it’s not going away quietly. A Chinese company he once publicly celebrated has now found itself at the center of a federal investigation, and the scandal is dragging the former president right back into controversy.
In 2014, former President Barack Obama hailed the revival of a General Motors plant in Moraine, Ohio — a facility that once stood as a proud symbol of American manufacturing. After GM shut its doors during the financial crisis in 2008, it was the Chinese-based Fuyao Glass Industry Group that stepped in to buy and reopen the factory.
At the time, Obama praised the move, even though a foreign adversary was taking over a plant that once produced Chevrolet Blazers and GMC Jimmys for hardworking Americans.
The Moraine plant was quickly transformed into what Fuyao claimed was the “largest auto glass facility in the world,” manufacturing windshields for global auto brands like GM, BMW, Honda, and Volkswagen.
