Mike Johnson Just Canceled EVERYTHING Friday!

In yet another unexplained move, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has abruptly scrapped Friday’s scheduled votes, effectively cutting the legislative workweek short. The announcement came through Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN), who told members: “Members are advised that votes are no longer expected in the House on Friday, May 16.” Emmer clarified, “Last votes for the week are now expected at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15. This is a change from the previously announced schedule.”

No justification. No accountability. Just silence from the man entrusted with steering the House of Representatives.

This isn’t a one-off incident, either. Just weeks ago, Johnson pulled a similar stunt—canceling votes midweek without warning and leaving crucial conservative legislation dead in the water. Among the bills that got sidelined were the SAVE Act, a pivotal piece of election integrity legislation, and other critical measures aimed at checking out-of-control activist judges. Johnson had the authority to keep the House in session. Instead, he folded—again.
