The Catholic Church had a rare opportunity to pivot back toward tradition after the death of Pope Francis. But instead of course-correcting, Church leaders doubled down on the same radical playbook.
On paper, it was a historic moment. For the first time in history, an American was chosen to lead the Roman Catholic Church. Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, a Chicago-born cleric with deep ties to liberal activism, was selected by the College of Cardinals and took the name Pope Leo XIV.
President Trump, ever gracious and patriotic, offered his congratulations in a heartfelt Truth Social post, praising the groundbreaking choice.
“Congratulations to Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who was just named Pope. It is such an honor to realize that he is the first American Pope. What excitement, and what a Great Honor for our Country. I look forward to meeting Pope Leo XIV. It will be a very meaningful moment!”
