Due to their choice to use tax dollars to support a renewable energy project linked to the Chinese Communist Party, Michigan’s Democratic lawmakers and Governor Gretchen Whitmer have come under severe public scrutiny. This has caused uproar across the state.
Gotion’s proposals for an electric vehicle battery manufacturing in Big Rapids, Michigan, with a substantial $175 million public subsidy package included, have been approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee. This large-scale project will not only increase employment and economic growth in this region of Michigan but also represent a significant advance in the development of environmentally friendly transportation options.

Due to its corporate rules, Gotion High-Tech, the parent business of Gotion, has sparked controversy by proposing an internal Chinese Communist Party Committee. The general population and a few elected officials have expressed alarm about this development.
“The Party Committee of the Company shall perform its duties in accordance with the Constitution of the Communist Party of China and other Party regulations,” the bylaws state.
After a contentious discussion, the measure was narrowly defeated by one vote with opposition from three GOP and three Democrat committee members.
Residents of Michigan expressed serious worries about the possible effects on national security as a result of Gotion’s staunch adherence to the Chinese Communist Party as stated in its bylaws. Many have been forced to worry whether a commercial partnership of this nature could endanger the security and stability of the United States.
The state’s position as a pioneer in mobility technology will be cemented by Gotion’s multibillion-dollar investment and job creation in Northern Michigan, Governor Whitmer bragged in October. The region is anticipated to gain significantly from this big project in terms of the economy.
Many Michigan residents have expressed their unhappiness and condemnation of the recent decision to give taxpayer money to a corporation connected to China’s Communist Party. Lawmakers have also expressed their concern over the possible repercussions of doing so.
The parent company’s allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party, a political force that has long influenced many facets of life in mainland China, alarmed Michigan people.
“I think that any Chinese communist plant buying up 700 acres of Michigan land is a concern to all citizens throughout the state,” resident Cheryl Vitito said. “This CCP-controlled company represents communism and is a threat to our way of life and our God-given and constitutional freedoms. We don’t want the CCP here by way of the Gotion plant as they have no regard for the value and dignity of human life.”
“This company pledges allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party and should be determined as a threat to our national security,” Shirley Schaefer, a different local, stated.
It “is the biggest ever economic development project in Northern Michigan and will shore up our status as the global hub of mobility and electrification,” said Whitmer.
