The hosts of ABC’s The View have never been shy about attacking conservatives, but one comment aimed at a young NFL quarterback has many viewers wondering whether the show’s rhetoric has crossed another line.
This week, veteran television personality Joy Behar found herself at the center of controversy after taking aim at New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart for one simple act: appearing at a rally and greeting President Donald Trump.
Dart’s appearance was hardly a political campaign. He did not announce a movement, endorse legislation, or deliver a lengthy speech attacking political opponents. He briefly welcomed Trump, shook his hand, and exited the stage.
Yet that was enough to trigger outrage on The View.
During a discussion of Dart’s appearance, Behar launched into a criticism of both Trump and the young quarterback. Attempting to frame the issue through the lens of race, she argued that Dart’s actions could create tension with teammates.
