Vice President JD Vance is signaling that the U.S. conflict with Iran could soon look dramatically different, offering one of the clearest indications yet that the Trump administration believes the current stage of the war may be approaching a turning point.
In an interview aboard Air Force Two, Vance said the conflict could enter a “much different phase” within the next couple of months. His comments come as President Donald Trump has separately predicted that the fighting could end shortly after the November midterm elections.
“We can’t predict the future, but I think the president is right to say that this thing will enter a much different phase in a couple of months,” Vance told the New York Post.
The vice president also stressed that the final decision about when American military operations begin or end rests with Trump, who serves as commander in chief.
