In a shocking development that has rattled global elites, Borge Brende, the president and CEO of the World Economic Forum (WEF), stepped down on Thursday following scrutiny over his connections to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to step down as President and CEO of the World Economic Forum. My time here, spanning 8-1/2 years, has been profoundly rewarding. I am grateful for the incredible collaboration with my colleagues, partners, and constituents, and I believe now is the right moment for the Forum to continue its important work without distractions,” Brende said in a formal statement.
Brende’s resignation came just weeks after the WEF initiated an internal probe into his relationship with Epstein. While Brende’s statement did not directly reference Epstein, investigators were reportedly concerned about repeated interactions between the two men.
According to sources, Brende had dined with Epstein on at least three separate occasions and maintained email and text correspondence with him. This raised eyebrows because Epstein had been convicted years earlier for attempting to exploit a minor for prostitution.
