In an interview with Local News Now, Beeman revealed she didn’t even know the encounter had been recorded until police arrived at her home seeking information. The Chico Police Department ultimately determined that Ponce’s behavior did not constitute a crime, though the situation prompted an investigation due to the high volume of public complaints.
Social media users quickly traced Ponce to her employer, Enloe Health, which then experienced an overwhelming response—over 6,000 calls flooded their phone lines within hours of the video going viral.
Beeman, however, chose a path of grace over retaliation. Regarding calls for Ponce to lose her job, she said, “I don’t think that that’s right. Two wrongs don’t make a right, you know, she wronged me, but I don’t want to wrong her, or I don’t want her – her wrong, because it’s not going to make it right. That was her opinion, she – but she’s the one that put it on Facebook or put it on – on that. So you know, but, I really wouldn’t want to see her, someone lose their job over it.”
Ponce later issued a formal apology to Beeman in a statement to Local News Now, saying, “I want to directly apologize to Jeannie. I am truly sorry for approaching you at your workplace and putting you in an uncomfortable and unfair position. You did not deserve that, and my behavior was wrong.”
She added, “I regret my actions, and I am genuinely sorry for the harm they caused. I wish I can go back and undo what happened, but I can acknowledge it honestly, learn from it, and commit to doing better moving forward.”
In response to the public outpouring of support, a GiveSendGo fundraiser was launched to benefit Beeman. Originally intended to fund a dream vacation, the campaign quickly transformed into a retirement fund opportunity.
Organized by conservative supporters, the fundraiser exceeded expectations, raising more than $250,000 in just days. Many donors praised Beeman’s poise under fire, with one commenter noting that the money could allow her to retire comfortably after decades of dedicated work.
Beeman expressed deep gratitude, telling supporters that she never sought fame or financial gain, calling the response “overwhelming.”
Adding to her unexpected turn of events, Kirk’s team invited Beeman to AmFest, Turning Point USA’s annual convention, where she was celebrated as a hero for standing calmly in the face of hostility.
