CBS News correspondent Matt Gutman is facing serious allegations in a newly filed lawsuit stemming from his nearly two decades at ABC News — just as his temporary run behind the anchor desk at “CBS Evening News” has attracted a noticeable ratings boost.
The lawsuit was filed August 14 in Los Angeles Superior Court by Samira Said, a former ABC News field producer who worked in the network’s Los Angeles bureau from approximately May 2021 until her termination in March 2025. Gutman is among several defendants named in the complaint, which also lists American Broadcasting Companies, Inc., The Walt Disney Company, ABC executive David Herndon and unnamed defendants.
Said’s lawsuit contains a series of allegations involving discrimination, workplace harassment, retaliation, failure to provide reasonable accommodation, wrongful termination and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The complaint seeks damages and other relief, with the amount demanded exceeding $35,000.
