Massive demonstrations erupted across Spain this week as anger boiled over following an extraordinary migrant surge into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, putting fresh pressure on left-wing Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and his government’s handling of the border crisis.
Tens of thousands of Spaniards took to the streets on September 2, with rallies held not only in Ceuta but also in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Bilbao and other cities across the country.
The demonstrations coincided with Ceuta Day and were organized by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces as a show of support for the North African territory.
