Mendoza-Gonzalez was originally arrested in April and charged with multiple offenses, including concealing and abusing a corpse and obstruction of justice. But instead of being held behind bars, a local judge made the jaw-dropping decision to release him almost immediately.
Lake County Judge Randie Bruno allowed Mendoza-Gonzalez to walk free just after his first appearance in court. The release shocked the community and devastated Bos’s grieving family, who had only recently discovered the horrifying details behind her disappearance.
