In an ironic twist of events, newly sworn-in U.S. Senator Adam Schiff appeared alongside Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer this week to denounce the idea of political retaliation. Schiff voiced concerns over the notion of former President Donald Trump holding political opponents accountable, stating that such actions should have no place in American politics.
“I don’t think the incoming president should be threatening his political opponents with jail time,” Schiff (D-Calif.) declared at a press conference, adding, “Nor do I think that a pardon is necessary for members of the Jan. 6 committee. We’re proud of the work we did on that committee.”

Schiff’s remarks have sparked criticism and raised questions about selective outrage. For years, prominent Democrats and their media allies celebrated efforts to investigate and prosecute Donald Trump, both during his presidency and after he left office. From the Russian collusion narrative to two impeachments, Democrats showed no hesitation in using every available mechanism to undermine Trump’s presidency and personal reputation.
