Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s recent fall has reignited discussions about his health and leadership within the Republican Party. On Tuesday, McConnell reportedly tripped after lunch, sustaining minor injuries. A spokesperson for the Kentucky Republican provided reassurance:
“Leader McConnell tripped following lunch. He sustained a minor cut to the face and sprained his wrist. He has been cleared to resume his schedule.”

Following the incident, Senate Minority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.), McConnell’s successor as Senate GOP leader in January, downplayed concerns about McConnell’s health. “He’s fine,” Thune told reporters, adding that McConnell was “in his office” after the fall. Thune deferred further inquiries to McConnell’s staff.
