Now, with Snow White set to hit theaters in March, Disney appears to be scrambling to rehabilitate Zegler’s image. The timing of her latest PR tour reeks of corporate damage control, as she suddenly adopts a softer tone and claims to respect fans’ passion for the original film.
According to Variety, Zegler recently addressed the ongoing controversy, attempting to spin the backlash as misplaced enthusiasm.
Rachel Zegler Says Live-Action ‘Snow White’ Backlash Is Due to ‘Passion’ For the Original Movie: ‘We’re Not Always Going to Agree With Everyone’
“Snow White” star Rachel Zegler says the backlash against Disney‘s latest live-action remake is due to “passion” for the original film.
Rather than acknowledge that her dismissive and divisive statements fueled audience resentment, Zegler painted herself as a misunderstood victim. She told Vogue Mexico, “I interpret people’s sentiments towards this film as passion. What an honor to be a part of something that people feel so passionately about. We’re not always going to agree with everyone who surrounds us and all we can do is our best.”
She went on to address concerns over her casting, which critics say ignores the film’s European fairy tale roots: “I understand that the conversation comes from the community not wanting to be seen as a monolith, but the reality of being Latino and working in this industry is that we try to represent the entire diaspora. I know where I’ve been, I represent it in my narrative, and I carry it in my heart every day. No one can ever tell me that it’s not a part of me.”

While Zegler and Disney may attempt to rewrite the narrative, the writing is already on the wall: this movie is doomed. No amount of PR spin can erase the resentment created by an actress who trashed the very legacy she was supposed to honor.
Hollywood executives should take this disaster as a lesson—handing major roles to woke activists with a history of alienating audiences is a recipe for failure. Studios would be wise to implement strict media guidelines for their stars, or even hold them financially accountable when their reckless statements sabotage a film’s success.
If Disney thought they could inject identity politics into a beloved fairy tale and escape backlash, they miscalculated badly. Fans have had enough, and Snow White will likely serve as yet another painful reminder that pushing woke narratives comes with a price.
