Chrysler Just Revealed a Massive Garage Problem

For years, Washington politicians promoted electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids as the future of transportation. Generous tax incentives were rolled out to encourage families to make the switch, and automakers rushed to meet growing government pressure to electrify their fleets.

Now, thousands of American families are receiving a troubling message from Chrysler about one of those taxpayer-subsidized vehicles.

The automaker has announced a recall affecting 17,277 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid minivans from the 2020 through 2022 model years after multiple vehicle fires were linked to a battery defect.

The warning being sent to owners is difficult to ignore.

According to Chrysler’s guidance, affected owners should avoid charging their vehicles and should not park them inside garages or near buildings until repairs can be completed.

“Don’t charge it.”

“Don’t park it in the garage.”

“Don’t park it near other structures.”

For many families, that advice raises an obvious question: If a vehicle cannot safely be parked inside a garage, how safe is it really?
