A Utah judge has handed down a significant decision ahead of one of the most closely watched criminal proceedings in the state, clearing the way for cameras to enter the courtroom during the upcoming preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson.
Robinson stands accused in the fatal shooting of conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. After months of legal maneuvering, repeated filings, and procedural disputes, the case is now moving toward a crucial stage that could determine whether prosecutors have enough evidence to move forward to trial.
Judge Tony Graf ruled this week that electronic media coverage will be permitted during the preliminary hearing, rejecting arguments from the defense that livestreams and courtroom photography would unfairly prejudice Robinson’s right to a fair trial.
