Inside WHCD Security Before Gunfire

Serious questions are being raised after an armed suspect reportedly managed to get inside the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where President Donald Trump was expected to speak Saturday night.

Authorities identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, California, according to law enforcement officials. Investigators say Allen was carrying a shotgun, a handgun, and several knives when the shocking incident unfolded.

The annual elite media gala is always heavily secured whenever a sitting president attends. But this year’s scare has critics wondering how anyone armed with multiple weapons was able to get so close to one of the most protected events in America.

Officials Claim Suspect Entered as Hotel Guest

According to Washington Metropolitan Police interim chief Jeffery Carroll, investigators believe the suspect had been staying at the hotel and used that status to gain entry before the event.

Officials say the Washington Hilton had already been shut down to the general public beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, hours before the dinner officially started at 8 p.m.

That means only select individuals were allowed inside the building, including hotel guests, ticket holders, invited reception attendees, or those with White House Correspondents’ Association credentials.

Despite those restrictions, the suspect allegedly made it into the hotel while armed.
