Two years ago, Shia LaBeouf was sitting in a Catholic church in California, speaking openly about sin, repentance, and the grace he said pulled him out of darkness. He spoke about faith. He spoke about discipline. He spoke about becoming a better man.

This week, he stood in a Louisiana courtroom facing a judge after a violent Mardi Gras arrest.
The contrast could not be more jarring.
According to police records filed in New Orleans, LaBeouf was arrested following an altercation at R Bar during Mardi Gras festivities. Authorities say the actor struck two men in the face and shouted homophobic slurs during the confrontation. Officers allege he returned to the bar after being removed once, escalating the situation.
Nine days later, he appeared before Judge Simone Levine in Orleans Parish Criminal Court. After initially being released without the full police report reviewed, the court reconsidered. Bond was reset at $100,000 once the details became clear.
