On an ordinary Tuesday afternoon, in the heart of the Midwest, the ground quite literally gave way beneath two unsuspecting drivers.

And in a matter of seconds, a routine red light turned into a viral symbol of everything Americans have been told about “historic” infrastructure spending.
Omaha Street Swallows Two Vehicles Without Warning
On February 24, near the University of Nebraska Omaha campus, a Ram pickup and a Jeep Cherokee were stopped at a red light along Pacific Street. There were no visible cracks. No buckling pavement. No flashing warning signs.
Then the asphalt simply collapsed.
Security footage shows the roadway dropping into a nearly square-shaped void, sending both vehicles nose-first into the earth. Within hours, the clip had exploded online, racking up millions of views and leaving Americans stunned.
