In the video, Fitton explained just how explosive these findings are and why they were hidden for so long.
Tom Fitton: “We just uncovered documents that show the CIA had folks involved in a response to January sixth. Now, I got a question for you. What if I had told you three weeks ago and I said, I think the CIA was involved somehow on January sixth. Somehow they were involved somehow. I’d probably get thrown off the internet, right? For promoting a conspiracy theory. But we just uncovered documents that show the CIA had folks involved in the response to January sixth.”
Fitton emphasized that this is not speculation or rumor. These conclusions are based on government records obtained only after Judicial Watch was forced to sue federal agencies in court.
In a follow-up video, Fitton laid out the specifics of what the documents reveal and why they raise serious constitutional concerns.
“Hey, everyone. Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton here with some massive news. Judicial Watch just uncovered that the CIA was involved in the response to the January 6th disturbances on Capitol Hill. In fact, CIA bomb technicians were sent over to the RNC and DNC where those pipe bombs supposedly were found. On top of that, there were CIA dog teams on standby in response to January 6th.”
These disclosures immediately prompt a long list of troubling questions. Why was the CIA involved at all? Why did it take years of litigation to uncover this information? And why did the Pelosi-led January 6 Committee never disclose these facts to the American people?
Fitton did not mince words when addressing the silence from Washington.
“Now, there are a lot of questions that are raised by our disclosures. First of all, why did it take Judicial Watch heavy lifting in federal court to get access to these documents after all these years? Why didn’t the Pelosi January sixth Committee, even as corrupt as it was, not disclose the CIA involvement?”
Judicial Watch initially requested records from the Department of Justice related to reports of shots fired inside the Capitol and requests for explosive response teams on January 6. Those requests were ignored, forcing the organization to file a federal lawsuit in 2023. Nearly a year later, text messages were finally released — and they told a very different story than the public was led to believe.
The texts reveal widespread panic among federal agencies, but one detail stood out above all others: the presence of CIA personnel.
“Several CIA dog teams on standby near the southwest area of the capital.”
Additionally, CIA bomb technicians were reportedly dispatched to the Republican and Democratic National Committee buildings where pipe bombs were allegedly discovered. The CIA’s involvement in domestic operations is supposed to be extremely limited, making these revelations all the more alarming.
Fitton also addressed the tragic shooting of Ashli Babbitt, noting that she was the only person killed by gunfire inside the Capitol that day.
“The only shots were fired were the shots fired, at least in the capital, the shot fired at poor Ashley Babbit by Michael Bird, US Capitol Police Officer, who, in our view, unlawfully shot her…”
Judicial Watch is currently representing Babbitt’s family in a $30 million wrongful death lawsuit against the federal government.
Perhaps most concerning is what happened next. After these disclosures became public, Fitton revealed that the CIA now claims it will need four more years to locate additional requested records.
What exactly are they hiding?
Why does an intelligence agency with no business operating domestically continue to delay transparency?
And why are Americans expected to simply trust agencies that repeatedly withhold critical information until forced by the courts?
As Judicial Watch continues its legal battle, one thing is clear: the official January 6 narrative is far from complete. And every new disclosure further erodes public trust in institutions that claim to act in the name of democracy while operating behind a wall of secrecy.
