Just In: Trump Sends Strike Forces to Minnesota!

U.S. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer appeared before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on May 15, 2025, in Washington, D.C., emphasizing oversight of labor, health, and education funding. Her testimony came amid growing concerns over fraud in Minnesota’s public assistance programs, drawing national attention.

The Department of Labor has announced a focused review of Minnesota’s unemployment insurance program following reports of widespread abuse in the state’s human services systems. Officials said the review comes after media coverage suggested potential vulnerabilities that could allow fraudsters to exploit taxpayer-funded programs.

In a formal letter to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), the Labor Department flagged recent revelations of Medicaid fraud as a warning that similar misconduct could exist in the state’s unemployment benefits system.

“If there has been any related abuse of our (unemployment insurance) systems, it will not be tolerated, and I trust our specialized strike team to get to the bottom of this and report their findings directly to me,” Chavez-DeRemer stated in a press release, according to the Minnesota Reformer.
