Instead of letting law enforcement do their job, Judge Dugan used her power to obstruct. She told agents they needed a “judicial warrant” – which is not the case under federal immigration law – and when they showed her the proper administrative warrant, she ordered them to leave. Then she helped Flores-Ruiz and his lawyer slip out the “jury door,” a restricted back entrance normally off-limits.
It was all caught on video. Later, she even admitted, “out the back door,” confirming she deliberately helped him avoid arrest.
While taxpayers pay her salary, powerful allies are footing her legal bills. Her defense team – which includes former Solicitor General Paul Clement – has already raised almost $140,000 in just three weeks. The kicker? Dugan doesn’t have to reveal who is bankrolling her defense until next year.
Who exactly is so eager to funnel six-figure donations into protecting a judge accused of obstructing ICE?
Dugan’s lawyers are trying to argue that she has “absolute judicial immunity.” But federal prosecutors aren’t buying it.
U.S. Magistrate Nancy Joseph flatly rejected the argument in a 37-page ruling:
“It is well-established and undisputed that judges have absolute immunity from civil lawsuits for monetary damages when engaging in judicial acts. This, however, is not a civil case.”
Exactly. Judicial immunity prevents lawsuits over rulings. It does not give a free pass to commit crimes.
That’s why Dugan is facing federal charges of obstruction of proceedings and concealing a person to prevent arrest. If convicted, she could face up to six years in prison and a $350,000 fine.
This case is not just about one judge in Wisconsin. It shines a light on a much bigger problem: activist judges using their authority to shield illegal immigrants and block federal enforcement.
Dugan didn’t make a mistake. She deliberately misled agents, ordered them out of her courtroom, and then smuggled a criminal alien out of the building. That takes planning.
And instead of consequences, she gets a taxpayer-funded paycheck and a luxury legal team. That’s the real scandal.
State Rep. Shae Sortwell has already introduced legislation to freeze pay for suspended judges, pointing out the absurdity of letting Dugan enjoy what he called an “extended vacation” on the public dime.
Until then, Wisconsin residents are forced to keep paying her salary – nearly $50,000 since April – while she sits at home awaiting trial.
Here’s the bigger danger: if Dugan wins, activist judges everywhere will see a blueprint for how to sabotage ICE without facing real consequences.
They’ll know there’s a well-funded network ready to defend them. They’ll know their salaries will keep rolling in even under suspension. And they’ll know they can obstruct immigration enforcement without losing their privileges.
That’s not a justice system. That’s a protection racket for left-wing judges.
Right now, Judge Hannah Dugan is sitting comfortably at home, cashing taxpayer checks while mystery donors bankroll her legal fight. If she beats these charges, every courthouse in America risks becoming a sanctuary for illegal aliens – and hardworking Americans will be stuck paying the bill.
