Court records show Shaw has pleaded not guilty. In the meantime, a judge has issued a protective order mandating she stay away from Mar-a-Lago, President Trump, and any other property associated with him.
Palm Beach Police Sergeant Michael Ogrodnick confirmed to Newsweek that the department has requested a risk protection order against Shaw. That request is reportedly under judicial review.
In a statement to the media, the U.S. Secret Service confirmed their involvement, saying, “While the incident had no impact on our protective operations, we take these matters extremely seriously. This arrest is being handled at the local level and we remain thankful to the Town of Palm Beach Police Department for their quick response and partnership. Questions regarding this arrest should be directed to the Town of Palm Beach Police Department.”
A White House official told Newsweek that President Trump was indeed briefed on the incident. Shaw is scheduled to return to court on July 14, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.
But this isn’t an isolated event.
Just weeks prior, another individual attempted to breach Mar-a-Lago’s perimeter under equally alarming circumstances. A 23-year-old man named Anthony Thomas Reyes was arrested after scaling a wall on the property in the dead of night. His reason? He claimed he wanted to “spread the gospel” and marry President Trump’s granddaughter, Kai.
According to documents from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, Reyes triggered security alarms shortly after midnight and was quickly intercepted by the Secret Service and Palm Beach Police. He was charged with occupied trespassing.
Reyes has a history of attempting to access the Trump property unlawfully. He had previously tried to enter Mar-a-Lago during the New Year’s holiday and was arrested then as well. Authorities say he was warned at that time but apparently chose to ignore those warnings.
Court records indicate he was initially released on a $1,000 bail, but that amount was later raised to $50,000. There is speculation that federal charges could be in the works.
A spokesperson from the Secret Service told Fox News, “An adult male was arrested early Tuesday morning by the Palm Beach Police Department for unlawfully entering the Mar-a-Lago Club property in Florida. Shortly after midnight, the individual scaled a perimeter fence and triggered alarms. U.S. Secret Service personnel detained him without incident at the scene. Palm Beach Police officers responded to the scene and took the individual into custody, charging him with occupied trespassing.”
The Palm Beach Daily News confirmed that Reyes had previously been cited for trespassing at Mar-a-Lago while President Trump was actually on the premises.
These incidents underscore the growing risks surrounding President Trump’s private life—even in what should be the security of his own home. While the Secret Service has maintained control during these encounters, the fact that such breaches continue to occur raises serious questions about ongoing threats and the motivations of those who target the former president.
As President Trump ramps up efforts for his return to the White House in 2024, the pressure on law enforcement to secure him and his family is more intense than ever. And if these back-to-back intrusions are any indicator, it may be time for a serious review of protective measures at Mar-a-Lago.
