While most Americans spent the weekend celebrating freedom and family, radical leftists gathered in Chicago for something called “Socialism 2025”—a conference showcasing the most extreme voices in academia and activism. It didn’t make national headlines, but the event was a glimpse into the ideological rot festering in America’s universities.
Among the more outrageous moments was a call from a University of Houston professor to rename the school after George Floyd. Yes, seriously.
David McNally, a professor at UH, took to the stage to advocate for rebranding the public university as “George Floyd University,” claiming it would better reflect the community’s values. But he didn’t stop there. He also demanded the end of traditional grading and tuition. These folks don’t want reform—they want a revolution.
According to Fox News, McNally appeared on a panel while wearing a keffiyeh, a symbol often associated with anti-Israel and far-left activism. He used his platform to discuss how to fight “the state” by building what he called an “insurgent mass movement.” In his view, tearing down America’s institutions is the only path forward.
