The mounting concerns over President Joe Biden’s mental fitness reached a boiling point Wednesday as his longtime personal physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, faced a congressional grilling—only to stonewall lawmakers by refusing to answer questions.
Appearing before the House Oversight Committee after weeks of negotiations, Dr. O’Connor disappointed Republicans who have been pressing for answers about what they say is a deliberate attempt by Biden’s inner circle to mislead the public. The hearing was seen as a key moment in uncovering just how much the White House knew about the President’s condition—and when they knew it.
But instead of providing transparency, Dr. O’Connor invoked the Fifth Amendment, declining to testify on virtually every question.
“President Joe Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, just pleaded the fifth at his deposition before Congress today,” wrote House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) in a pointed post on X. “It’s now clear there was a conspiracy to cover up President Biden’s cognitive decline after Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician and family business associate, refused to answer any questions and chose to hide behind the fifth amendment.”
