A group of left-wing protesters gathered in Washington D.C. on Friday to demand that congressional Democrats take a dramatic and unprecedented step: refuse to certify President-elect Donald Trump’s victory in the November election. The protesters, numbering about 50, expressed their outrage and frustration ahead of the scheduled certification on Monday, January 6.
The protesters held signs with messages like “Honor Your Oath” and “Insurrectionists Can’t Be President,” chanting slogans such as “lock him up.” Independent journalist Ford Fischer captured footage of the event, showcasing their determination. One particularly striking sign read, “Deny, Defend, Depose,” a chilling reference to the manifesto written by Luigi Mangione, the accused killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

However, Trump has never been formally accused or convicted of “insurrection” or “rebellion,” rendering the effort controversial. The U.S. Supreme Court recently overruled a Colorado decision to bar Trump from the ballot, citing lack of evidence.
