Democrats love shouting the word “war crime” whenever it helps them score a headline. But this weekend, one high profile Democrat tried to accuse the Trump administration of murder and then immediately tripped over her own story on live television.
Senator Tammy Duckworth, the Illinois Democrat often treated by the press as a foreign policy authority, went on CNN Sunday morning swinging at President Trump’s Pentagon for the now infamous “double tap” strike against a trafficking vessel in the Caribbean. She opened with absolute confidence, declaring at 9:33 a.m. that she had personally viewed the key footage and that it was “a war crime.”
One minute later, the entire claim collapsed.
Duckworth’s attempt to sound definitive instead exposed a much bigger problem inside the modern Democrat Party. They shout accusations first, then figure out the facts later. Or in this case, never.
On air, Duckworth tried building her case by insisting the United States had no authority to act. She insisted the entire operation was unlawful from every angle. She said it violated international rules, the Geneva Convention, and even domestic statutes. She went as far as accusing the Pentagon of killing people illegally. Her words were unmistakable. “It was essentially murder with that double tap strike.”
