Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is under intense fire after revelations that he burned through nearly half a million dollars of taxpayer money to prepare for a congressional hearing probing Democratic “sanctuary city” policies.
Invoices surfaced by the Star Tribune expose that Walz enlisted the heavyweight global law firm K&L Gates to coach him ahead of his mid-June appearance before the Republican-led House Oversight Committee. Lawmakers there zeroed in on Walz and fellow blue-state governors over their sanctuary stances.
The Star Tribune’s digging showed that in May alone, Walz’s legal tab soared past $232,000, with lawyers billing an eye-popping average of $516 per hour.
