A Biden-nominated federal judge is poised to slam the brakes on immigration enforcement tactics long used to root out illegal aliens in California, handing a significant victory to the ACLU and left-wing activists who claim that federal agents have unfairly targeted certain communities based on race, language, or occupation.
In a tentative ruling released this week, U.S. District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong indicated she plans to block Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol from conducting immigration sweeps at businesses like Home Depots, car washes, and similar job sites across a wide swath of Southern California unless agents have concrete, individualized suspicion that immigration laws are being broken.
According to Fox News, the ruling covers seven counties in the Central District of California and, if finalized, would place new limits on how federal agents can operate in one of the nation’s busiest regions for immigration enforcement.
