In a day where radical judges are frequently criticized for their “catch and release” practices, which are linked to an increase in crime in our neighborhoods, it is critical to recognize and honor those who faithfully do their jobs despite threats and personal danger.
Among the others is Judge Mary Kay Holthus of Clark County, Nevada.
A startling thing happened on Wednesday during Deobra Redden’s sentencing. Suddenly, the thirty-year-old felon sprang over the bench and assaulted Judge Holthus, violently knocking her from her chair and breaking off part of her hair in the process as her head struck the wall.

A law clerk called Michael Lasso attempted to stop the attack in a troubling situation, but he was unable. According to KTNV-TV in Las Vegas, the victim, Holthus, frantically tried to hide her face by hiding beneath her desk.
Watch this amazing viral video to see Redden fling himself courageously over the judge’s desk in a furious attack.
Redden reportedly physically attacked the judge, smashing her head against the wall and yanking off a few strands her hair.
Following the attack, KTNV stated that the arrest report painted a “chaotic scene with blood spatter and documents scattered across the courtroom.”
According to the KTNV arrest report, there was a misunderstanding that led to the mayhem, with two marshals being falsely informed that there was a panic alarm in courtroom 3G while, in fact, the problem was in courtroom 3F, which was nearby.
Afterwards, Redden asked marshals whether what he had done was wrong, claiming the judge “had it out for him” and was “evil.” He spat on an officer at the prison facility and said that he “had a bad day and tried to kill the judge.”
When the court turned down Redden’s bail plea, he became aggressively confrontational.

According to KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, Redden, who has a long criminal history, is requesting mercy in court.
“Basically, I would like to tell the courts and everyone here, based on my criminal history, like, I feel like I shouldn’t be sent to prison for a second time,” Redden stated, citing KLAS.
“Have you looked at your criminal history?” The court questioned Redden before going over his extensive criminal history, which includes convictions for assault, robbery, and domestic abuse.
Redden, however, said that he had recognized he had an issue with his “mental health” and that he was in a “better place in his mind.”
After the attack, Holthus went back to her bench responsibilities without any delay. She’s so determined now, in fact, that she’s filed an order to bring Redden before her again to finish his sentence.
The report said that the judge has given the cops instructions to “by any and all means necessary” get Redden into the courtroom on Monday.
Redden’s attempts to coerce or threaten the court into releasing him have not succeeded. Judge Holthus has stayed unwavering, exhibiting the traits of a principled and unwavering jurist.
Redden will surely come to regret his choice on Monday when he realizes that he has chosen to take aim at the judge, who is unlikely to be persuaded.
