Vice President J.D. Vance is stepping up the Trump administration’s fight against fraud with the launch of a nationwide anti-fraud task force. The initiative, first reported by Fox News, will use a cutting-edge artificial intelligence platform to identify suspicious activity faster and stop wasteful spending before it hits taxpayers’ pockets.
The task force is partnering closely with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), overseen by Mehmet Oz. Last month, the agency moved swiftly to suspend 70 hospice and home health providers in the Los Angeles area after they were flagged as high-risk for fraud. Officials say funding for those providers was halted within just one week of detection.
“As the task force to root out waste, fraud, and abuse ramps up its work, we expect [the number of potentially fraudulent hospice and home health providers] to grow exponentially,” a source familiar with the effort told Fox News.
In February, Vance and Oz announced that Minnesota would have $259.5 million in Medicaid funding withheld due to fraud concerns. This action came amid growing scrutiny of the state’s programs, shortly before Gov. Tim Walz—the former running mate of Kamala Harris—revealed he would not run for a third term.
