CIA Director John Ratcliffe made a rare, previously undisclosed trip to Moscow on Tuesday, touching down in the Russian capital aboard a U.S. military aircraft as questions mounted over the purpose of the high-level visit.
The trip was not announced in advance, and details remain tightly guarded.
Several U.S. officials familiar with the matter confirmed that Ratcliffe traveled to Moscow for meetings. However, neither the CIA nor the Trump administration immediately revealed who he met with, what subjects were discussed, or whether any agreements were reached.
