US Bishops SUE Trump Admin Over Refugee Funding!

In a bold legal maneuver, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has initiated a lawsuit against the Trump administration, challenging its abrupt suspension of federal funding designated for refugee resettlement programs. This action underscores a significant clash between the administration’s stringent immigration policies and the Church’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian aid.

Filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the lawsuit names the State Department, the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as defendants. The USCCB contends that the administration’s decision to halt funds allocated for refugee assistance is both unlawful and a direct violation of congressional appropriations and statutory obligations under the Refugee Act of 1980.
