A Stunning Announcement With Devastating Consequences

The meatpacking giant sent shockwaves through farm country after revealing it will shut down its large beef plant in Lexington, Nebraska. This isn’t some minor facility being mothballed — it processes roughly 5,000 head of cattle every single day, representing about five percent of America’s total daily slaughter capacity.

And with the same announcement, Tyson confirmed that more than 3,200 Nebraskans will lose their jobs in a town of barely 10,000 people. Another 1,700 workers in Amarillo will see operations shrink as well.
