Jim Himes (D-CT), ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, issued a fiery response to bombshell revelations released by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. Gabbard, who has taken a hard stance on government transparency, has sparked major controversy by pushing to declassify documents tied to alleged abuse of power and political manipulation during the Obama administration.
According to sources familiar with the disclosures, Gabbard’s actions aim to expose how key players—including former CIA Director John Brennan—used the now-debunked Steele dossier to wage a covert campaign against then-candidate Donald Trump. Critics are calling it nothing short of a political coup that weaponized U.S. intelligence agencies to undermine a duly elected president.
Mainstream media, of course, immediately circled the wagons. CBS host Margaret Brennan opened a recent segment by stating, “A bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee investigation found that the US intelligence community assessment of Russian interference in the 2016 election was correct.” She quickly pivoted to accuse Gabbard of overstepping her role.
Brennan added, “Today and yesterday, the director of the intelligence community, Tulsi Gabbard, has said that she is referring for prosecution former American officials she accused of treasonous conspiracy, a years-long coup against President Trump… Is there any legal basis for any kind of prosecution here?”
