In yet another grim example of how Joe Biden’s open-border policies are putting American lives at risk, a brave off-duty Customs and Border Protection officer was shot in the face late Saturday night in New York City—by an illegal immigrant who never should’ve been on U.S. soil.
The violent attack happened just before midnight in Fort Washington Park, located in the northern part of Manhattan. The victim, a 42-year-old CBP officer, was ambushed while sitting on a rock with a woman companion. Two suspects approached them, and in the chaotic moments that followed, one of the men—now identified as an illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic—opened fire, hitting the officer in the face and forearm.
Despite his critical injuries, the agent returned fire and struck his attacker three times, managing to wound and temporarily stop the assailant. Law enforcement sources say the suspect, bleeding from his injuries, later sought medical help at a hospital and was taken into custody there.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, the suspect is 19-year-old Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a Dominican national who illegally re-entered the U.S. and was released into the country under the Biden administration. DHS revealed that Mora Nunez was previously apprehended near San Luis, Arizona, on April 4, 2023.
