President Donald Trump made a dramatic announcement Saturday that sent shockwaves through Washington, Wall Street, and Latin America.
Standing at Mar-a-Lago and surrounded by senior cabinet officials, Trump revealed that the United States is preparing to take control of Venezuela’s oil industry following a decisive military operation that removed socialist strongman Nicolás Maduro from power.
The president confirmed that U.S. forces successfully captured Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, during what he described as a highly complex and precisely executed raid. Both are now being transported to New York, where they are expected to face serious federal charges, including narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation, and multiple weapons offenses.
Trump characterized the mission as a complete success.
He described the moment of Maduro’s capture in vivid terms, telling reporters that he watched it unfold in real time. “literally like I was watching a television show.”
According to the president, the operation achieved its objectives with minimal casualties. He emphasized that no American service members were killed during the raid, a point he said was nothing short of remarkable.
