Rogan Says One Text to Trump Sparked Immediate Response

Joe Rogan explained that his interest in psychedelic medicine grew after speaking with former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Bryan Hubbard during an episode of his massively popular podcast.

According to Rogan, the conversation opened his eyes to how many Americans may have benefited from these treatments, especially those dealing with trauma, depression, PTSD, and other difficult conditions.

“They told me how impactful this medicine is,” Rogan said.

He later told the audience that “millions of people got a chance to hear their story, hear the stories of all the different people that have had life changing experiences from it.”

After hearing the stories and learning more, Rogan decided to contact Trump directly.

“I sent him that information. The text message that came back: ‘Sounds great. Do you want FDA approval? Let’s do it.’ Literally that quick,” he said, according to The Hill.

That revelation drew immediate attention online, with supporters praising Trump’s willingness to move fast when presented with a potentially life-saving opportunity.

Trump Credits Rogan for Bringing Issue Forward

During the Oval Office event, Trump openly acknowledged Rogan’s role in helping push the issue to the top of the administration’s agenda.

“I got a call from a number of people, including the great Joe Rogan, and he said, we have to do something about this. And I looked into it,” Trump said.

The president’s comments highlighted the unusual but increasingly powerful influence of independent media voices like Rogan, whose reach often rivals or exceeds that of legacy news networks.

White House Officials Say Order Came Together in Record Time

Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said the pace of the effort was extraordinary.

He explained it was an “unimaginable task in one week to be able to go from a series of connections and communications with Joe Rogan” to a final executive order, according to The Wall Street Journal.

That rapid turnaround signaled just how seriously the administration took the issue once Trump became engaged.

Focus on Veterans and America’s Suicide Crisis

The executive order placed heavy emphasis on the tragic rise in suicide across America, especially among veterans.

“Suicide rates tragically increased by 37 percent from 2000 to 2018,” the order said.

“Critically, veterans often suffer in greater measure from this tragedy. For over 20 years, there have been more than 6,000 veteran suicides per year, and the current veteran suicide rate is more than twice as much as the non-veteran adult population,” the order said.

Those figures underscore why many advocates have demanded urgent action and more innovative treatment options.

Psychedelic Treatments Could Be a New Frontier

The order pointed to emerging research involving compounds such as ibogaine and other psychedelic-based therapies for people whose conditions have not improved through standard methods.

It stated that “psychedelic drugs, including ibogaine compounds, show potential in clinical studies to address serious mental illnesses for patients whose conditions persist after completing standard therapy.”

The administration further noted:

“Indeed, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Breakthrough Therapy designation to specific psychedelic drugs, and there are numerous products currently in the clinical trial pipeline for review of safety and efficacy. It is the policy of my Administration to accelerate innovative research models and appropriate drug approvals to increase access to psychedelic drugs that could save lives and reverse the crisis of serious mental illness in America.”

A Bold Move With Major National Attention

Trump’s action is certain to spark debate, but supporters see it as another example of the president taking an unconventional route to solve a crisis that many in Washington have ignored for years.

With Rogan helping bring the issue directly to the Oval Office, the administration is now betting that new therapies could offer hope where the old system has failed.
