The Biden Justice Department may have to brace for a storm — and it’s coming from within. The newly installed interim U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York, John A. Sarcone III, is already making waves, not just for his policy priorities, but for his unapologetic past criticisms of top Democrats.
Sarcone was tapped for the role by President Donald Trump, and while the position is interim and didn’t require Senate confirmation, his appointment is no small matter. Sarcone, a longtime private attorney from Westchester County, has no traditional prosecutorial background, but what he lacks in bureaucratic pedigree, he makes up for in unflinching boldness — and loyalty to Trump.
Sarcone has made headlines before even setting foot in his new office. In a 2022 social media post, he didn’t hold back after Joe Biden posted that he was “ready to get things done” on New Year’s Eve. Sarcone shot back: “Traitor should be tried for treason. Worst person to occupy the White House.”
That wasn’t a one-off moment. Sarcone also targeted former President Barack Obama, tweeting that he should be “the first illegal alien deported,” and called for Hillary Clinton to be jailed for treason.
