As the political world braces for what’s next in Donald Trump’s second term, the 45th President just dropped another grenade—this time aimed squarely at America’s neighbors to the north. In a now-viral Truth Social post on Tuesday, Trump lit up Canada with a wildly bold offer: pay up for U.S. missile defense or join the Union as the 51st state—for free.
“I told Canada, which very much wants to be part of our fabulous Golden Dome System, that it will cost $61 Billion Dollars if they remain a separate, but unequal, Nation, but will cost ZERO DOLLARS if they become our cherished 51st State,” Trump wrote.
Yes, you read that right. Trump isn’t just pitching missile defense—he’s putting a price tag on sovereignty. And in classic Trump fashion, he insists the offer is being “considered” by Canadian officials.
“They are considering the offer!” he added with his signature flair.
This latest volley comes after Trump unveiled plans to finally complete the long-envisioned “Golden Dome” missile defense initiative—something he says was started decades ago under President Ronald Reagan. Trump promises to have it ready by the end of his term, with a staggering $175 billion price tag.
