In a heartbreaking and infuriating tragedy on Lake Grapevine, Texas, 18-year-old Ava Moore—a promising U.S. Air Force cadet candidate—was struck and killed by a jet ski on Sunday. The suspect? An illegal alien from Venezuela who, after causing the fatal collision, fled the scene with help from another illegal alien. Now, both are finally behind bars.
Authorities identified the suspect as 21-year-old Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez. According to officials, Gonzalez slammed into Moore while she was kayaking, then escaped with the help of a fellow Venezuelan, Maikel Coello Perozo. As they fled in a vehicle, they reportedly struck another car before ditching the vehicle near a local apartment complex.
The incident has shaken the community and outraged citizens across the country, particularly in light of who Moore was—a shining example of American excellence and sacrifice.
Ava Moore had just graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School on May 19. She had earned her spot in the Academy’s Class of 2029. Her life and dreams were cut short in an instant.
