In a powerful and emotional moment that marked a historic shift in Middle East diplomacy, President Donald Trump met with families of Israeli hostages just hours after Israel confirmed the release of the final group of captives held by Hamas since the brutal October 7, 2023, terror attacks.
The meeting took place ahead of Trump’s highly anticipated speech before the Israeli Knesset, where he unveiled his new 20-point peace plan — a framework credited with achieving what many experts called “impossible.”
The Hostages Finally Come Home
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that 20 surviving hostages were safely released, ending 738 days of captivity. The freed individuals included Nimrod Cohen, Elkana Bohbot, Matan Angrest, Avinatan Or, Yosef-Haim Ohana, Alon Ohel, Evyatar David, Guy Gilboa-Dalal, Rom Braslavski, Gali Berman, Ziv Berman, Eitan Mor, Segev Kalfon, Maxim Herkin, Eitan Horn, Matan Zanguaker, Bar Kupershtein, David Cunio, Ariel Cunio, and Omri Miran.
Among them, Cohen’s dramatic survival of an RPG attack on his tank had been captured in video footage that went viral around the world. He was airlifted to Ichilov Hospital by Air Force chief Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar.
