Trump Team Closing In on Iran Agreement?

As tensions between the United States and Iran appear to edge toward a possible turning point, negotiators are reportedly closer than ever to hammering out a framework that could finally stop months of dangerous military escalation in the Middle East.

According to a new report from Axios, officials involved in the ongoing talks are now discussing the rough structure of what could become a formal agreement between Washington and Tehran after more than two months of conflict that erupted following Operation Epic Fury on February 28.

While no final agreement has officially been reached, the report suggests momentum is building behind the scenes — and global markets wasted no time reacting to the possibility of peace.

“Nothing has been agreed yet, but the sources said this was the closest the parties had been to an agreement since the war began,” Axios reported.

The proposed framework reportedly centers around a 14-point plan being pushed by the United States. The deal would require Iran to permanently abandon any ambition of building a nuclear weapon while also suspending its uranium enrichment activities. In addition, Tehran would reportedly be forced to accept tougher international oversight and inspections of its nuclear infrastructure.
