The Iran War May End Sooner Than Anyone Thought

As Washington and Tehran inch toward what could become the first real breakthrough since the start of Operation Epic Fury, the global stakes could not be higher. After more than two months of escalating military strikes, threats in the Strait of Hormuz, and fears of a broader regional war, negotiators are now reportedly discussing a simple one-page framework that could stop the fighting and reshape the Middle East overnight.

According to a new report from Axios, U.S. and Iranian officials are closer to an agreement than at any point since the conflict erupted on February 28. While no final deal has been signed, the outlines of a possible settlement are finally beginning to emerge after weeks of backchannel diplomacy and mounting economic pressure.

The proposed framework is reportedly centered around strict nuclear restrictions on Iran in exchange for financial relief and a gradual rollback of U.S. sanctions. Sources familiar with the talks told Axios that the American side is pushing a 14-point arrangement designed to permanently block Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons capability.

Under the reported proposal, Iran would agree to halt nuclear weapons development, freeze enrichment expansion, and submit to expanded international inspections of its facilities. In exchange, the United States would loosen sanctions and release frozen Iranian assets that have been locked up for years.
